Para Onde Vai? (Where does it go? in English) is the title of a Diptych comprised of two panels each measuring 170 x 170 CM. This piece is part of a new series of works which find their inspiration in the 'calcada portuguesa', a hand laid paving formed from hand cut limestone. The artist became fascinated with this laborious surface, which has a rich history dating back to the 15th Century, when he moved to Brazil in 2015. The artist says ' In the first few months when I arrived in Brazil, I would spend many hours walking, in a meditative way. Looking back I t seems like I was searching for 'ground I could feel earthed to' in a strange land. I became curious as to the origins of this paving and discovered a rich history surrounding it. I felt drawn to make work using this as a reference; a starting point from which to address questions of impermanence and the process of accepting change.
