A collage in linen canvas and newsprint, ORION I takes its name from Orion's belt, represented by the three consecutive spots top right of the collage. Newsprint represents the idea of communication and information, underscoring the cosmic event; a further exploration of the philosophical concept of Intelligent Design. Heavenly bodies often appear to us as half circles when partially exposed to the light of the sun. Here, space is white, not black, suggesting a field within which everything originates, in contrast to the idea of dark matter. Magnetic field lines expand from within a polarity represented by the half black, half white rectangle and dot of origin. ORION I is reminiscent of a mobile, a reminder of the perpetual, mysterious motion of the cosmos.
