PERFECT SOCIETY is a bold work built on the bedrock of Indian ink calligraphy practice. The tongue-in-cheek title references strong opinion and dynamic changes in current affairs, particularly within western societies. The dark and light divide demarcates the push-pull energy centers. Red dominates the work, a fire colour, signifying the rapid and unprecedented pace of technological advancement and its potential effects on ethical and political landscapes of our modern age. Red underscores overlapping geometries, signifying the attempt to create order from chaos with positive progression. The four-pointed shapes represent an attempt to create a stable environment in a world that is governed by the movement of heavenly bodies such as our sun and moon, as well earth-bound natural elements, as well as the human condition.

Quantum computing and discoveries such as the Higgs boson particle redefine our perspectives while we simultaneously grapple with human crisis such as political refugees. How do we reconcile great technological advancement in an age where basic human rights cry out for solutions? What defines human progress - intellectual discovery or compassion? Can we apply our new found knowledge to improve the human situation, not only for the few, but for the many? Perfect Society - a Utopian vision, or real potential for a better world?
