The most intentionally restful piece, it uses the monochromatic structures apparent in the other paintings as a framework, the emphasis being on the soft, pale spaces home to discrete pencil marks and palette-scoring. From a distance it seems unfinished, and presents an unsatisfying tension, which, up close, is resolved through detail and deliberation.
